Outpatient Waiting Time Statistics

Statistics for various types of treatments available at NI hospitals, by the HSC Trust and the length of time patients have been waiting.

The Department for Health produces quarterly hospital waiting time statistics. These cover a wide range of treatment services and types (inpatients, first outpatient appointment, diagnostic tests and cancer services).

Outpatient waiting time information is detailed on the number of patients waiting, and length of time waiting, for a first appointment at a consultant-led outpatient service and integrated clinical assessment and treatment services (ICATS) at health and social care (HSC) trusts in Northern Ireland.

The publications report on the performance of HSC trusts against the ministerial waiting time target in Northern Ireland.

The 2015/16 Ministerial target relating to outpatient waiting times states that from April 2015, at least 60% of patients should wait no longer than nine weeks for a first outpatient appointment, and no patient waiting longer than 18 weeks. (DoH)
